The Carolina Hotel’s Pinehurst Gingerbread Village took over 100 hours to complete, from the hotel carpenters building the village’s sub-structure to the detailed work done by Pinehurst Resort Pastry Chef Joey Norombaba and his bake shop team, which includes Bake Shop Supervisor Samantha Duffy, who is seen in this video with Chef Norombaba. A total of 12 artists from the bake shop and the kitchen began work on the village the day after Halloween.
The display consists of The Carolina Hotel, the Village Chapel and four residential homes near The Carolina.
It took 24 hours to erect the Gingerbread Village in its final location in The Carolina Hotel lobby.
Items used to complete the structures include:
- 400 pounds of powdered sugar
- 6 gallons of egg whites
- 3 quarts of lemon juice
- 40 pounds of rolled fondant
- 4 pounds of pretzels
- 3 cups of green food coloring
- 150 pounds of house-baked gingerbread
- 5 pounds of dark chocolate
- 10 pounds of various candies
The Pinehurst Resort Culinary and Engineering teams would like to wish everyone a happy holiday season. The public is invited to come to The Carolina to view the amazing work done by Pinehurst Resort’s team.
